Yes, I know, New Year's is so far away or seems like it from now. It's just about Halloween and not even Thanksgiving. But last year around this time, I dedicated myself to working out and where normally, most people gain about 10 lbs over the holidays, I lost 10 lbs! I was so ecstatic about having done that too and over the holidays!!
So in essence, this time of year is when I really do my New Year's resolution. Of course it is the start of the New Year for Celtic beliefs so I am going with that and not going to put it off!
Now this next 10 lbs is probably going to be the hardest for me to lose. I have not seen the 170s in so many years now and I know I am fighting age and peri-menopause and all that junk. Most women my age get thick around the middle and lose their waistlines. It's just crap!
I refuse to succumb and I refuse to settle for that!
So, my resolution is to follow Power90 AND! I am going back to WOWY too. I'll be checking in twice a day and going back to doubles when I get back from my trip in early November. I return on the 8th so I'll begin on the 9th. It won't be easy but nothing worth having is ever truly that easy!
I am going to put off getting my cholesterol checked again too until I finish Power90 in February. I want to be able to give it my all first. I'll be checking in here to keep myself accountable to myself. I'll take measurements again to see what I am starting with and then go for it! Check them each week.
I'll of course continue with Shakeology and their workouts too.
That's the plan and my biggest goal will be to keep myself motivated! I know I can do it, just have to do so!
Dedicate! Focus! Push Play!!
Rocky, I am thinking of you my friend and workout pal!

This time of year..
This time of year always seems to be my biggest challenge, Halloween. This is the time that I start to bake, if I am going to and prepare for my favorite holiday of all! I am good with the candy being in the house, once it is bagged into ziplock bags, I don't touch it.
My daughter's party was an absolute blast! I didn't go too hogwild tho' I did allow myself some goodies. My son was able to maintain his 169.5 throughout the whole weekend which is wild considering we had pizza and soda and all sorts of stuff. He watched what he ate however and how much, so that was very cool!
I did the same pretty much tho' I have not weighed myself at all. I will probably wait until I get back from the Stanley Hotel trip on the 8th of November and then take measurements and weight and see where I am at.
I adore this time of year but I will be glad when it's all said and done and I can relax again and really dedicate myself, get motivated and shoot for the moon in working out!
Last year, I did the same thing and lost 10 lbs over the winter. I've managed to be about at that point again with the loss already behind me. March 2011, I was 185. :) So last I checked, that was only 2 lbs away!
I haven't been walking at all as my plantars is now back with a vengence. (Ouch!) I have gone back to stretching exercises now in the morning and I have to remember to stay off the cement in bare feet or socks and make sure I wear my sneakers. I've been volunteering at the local haunted house and so I am standing for a few hours at a time there and I quickly realized I had to wear my sneakers there that are the most comfortable so my feet do not hurt so badly by the end of the night.
Need to be sure I drink water more so then too.
Well I just wanted to check in here before it gets too crazy busy. We have the Halloween decorating contest today and tomorrow, exciting! I'll post back in when I get back from my trip on the 8th or 9th and we'll get started back at it again more regularly! Oh to lose another 10 lbs over the winter! How grand that would be to be back in the 170s!!! I'd be ecstatic! Just small little goals like that makes it all seem just in reach!! Love it!!

Time keeps on slippin...
Time has just flown by as it always does this time of year! I haven't been able to really dedicate myself to working out. I was good for a week but so much came up with all the preparations for Halloween and my daughter's birthday and party, it's been just absolutely crazy!
I did speak to the dietician and my numbers had not really changed, mostly just maintained which at first, I had jumped up and then worked my way back down again. I seem to be stuck at this one spot however and not able to move much...
That is...until recently! I had decided to go ahead and weigh myself as I have not done so in a long while and as my exercising slowed to nil pretty much and I was eating for the most part, pretty good still. I had a feeling, fearing that most likely, I had slipped back into the 190s. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was actually down and was at 187 flat! Awesome!
After seeing the cardiologist, that's when I lost my motivation. Hearing him not too concerned over the lower cholesterol numbers like my regular doc was as he seemed to dismiss it to just lifestyle or genetics and told me that he wasn't worried about those numbers, just mostly the top ones, from the regular cholesterol testing. I was like dang...did I get the fear put into me more than what was needed?? I don't know...
What I do know however, is that my family does have a bad history when it comes to being overweight and inactive. As they get older, the less they did, the more weight they gained and the more out of shape they became. I would not have called any of them obese per se, but my father had gotten very heavy just before he died. He was probably the closest to that aside from my mother who was overweight too, not obese when I think of obese I think of 400 or so lbs. I know the charts say you are obese before that number, but oh well. Let's just say...FAT!
With everything going on however, I thought that I would take a break and focus then on decorating of the house and cleaning up and getting things ready for the big party this Saturday. It's fastly approaching and I don't have near the things done that I had wanted to. I am going to try to get all done that I can however. Meanwhile, I am eating fairly well and will remain on track there!
Once I get back from my trip out to Colorado, I'll dedicate myself again like I did last year at this time and focus then on working out and keep it up. With no more trips nor anything huge going on, I can committ myself to it. I was hoping to get P90X this year but I may wait now til next year to transition from Power90 then. I WILL finish Power90 however! I am determined to do so and to move from the yellow disk to the blue!! I know I can do it!
I did not make anymore phone appointments with the dietician. She didn't seem to really see a need for them unless I wanted them and well, I know what to do, it just comes down to me doing it. So...I have to get busy!

Ow! But Good!
Been working out 2x a day now since Monday and my muscles are very sore but I feel tons more stronger and better already! It does not take much to really drive up your energy when you exercise like that. I just finished my Shakeology shake and cooling down with some more water. I've been trying to consciously drink more water too. I didn't weigh myself today, but yesterday was at 188.5 so I feel really good! I am hoping to see 185 or so by Monday before the dietician calls. That would be awesome!
To do that, I have to stick to it and be careful with what I eat. I am not sure if that is doable really but heck, I am going to try my best!
I finally stopped eating those dang Reeses PeanutButter Pumpkins they have out for Halloween. Oh man...those just kill me! My last one was on Sunday and I am doing really good! Of course my daughter comes home and brings me one yesterday from the grocery store! YIKES! I laughed and said noooooo and so I just put it under a shelf here in my office so I don't see it. I will wait to eat it...many days from now. It was nice of her to think of me, knowing how much I love those things but I really want to see how well I can do here in one month's time before I go off to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado to go ghost hunting with Zak and Aaron from Ghost Adventures. I have the picture of all three of them (with Nick) from GAC framed and sitting on the dvd bookcase up there in the movie room and am trying to think of it as them encouraging me. Hey, I'll take all the motivation I can create eh?! How can you not want to work out with beefed up men? Hmmm I should line the walls up there with pics of muscle builders!!
I have thought of getting one of those calendars with very obese women and using it as my motivation. I have to give them alot of credit for that but it is a state that I do not wish to go to for my poor little body can not take too much weight on it. I am about at my limit to where it can stand. Although my feet are hurting lately and not from exercising, I know it's the plantar's. The left one has been stinging. I have to go back to my stretching exercises. I should also take a nice hot bath and soak my legs and feet some more.
Today is the cardiologist visit. I finished filling out the paperwork just before this 2nd workout and got it in my purse so I don't forget. I should shower now and then also look to see if I can find my own medical records from the military that I had kept.
Halloween is coming and my daughter's party and I am feeling like I am getting overwhelmed and frazzled a bit. I will feel better tho' I know once I have the graveyard up outside and work on the inside too this weekend as well as the garage. I have to start to go thru the boxes and bins that we hauled inside. Get things put together and start the projects too. I've been listening to a lot of Nox Arcana and Midnight Syndicate for good graveyard music. Oohh and the newest Nox Arcana cd is on it's way! I am excited to hear it!
Ok back to the weight loss....I gotta keep doing this...not stop! I wanted to walk too but with my feet hurting lately, I figured I might want to just take it easy on that part. I have been able to feel my ankle that I had twisted on those two falls is starting to get better. It was pretty tender and sore when I went to stretch it but it's starting to be less painful now. I am so glad I did not injure myself worse and put myself out of commission. I have been able to heal fairly well and get back on the horse! Awesome!
I am curious as to what my belly will measure on Monday morning. With the weekend coming up, I have to be extra careful for that is when I am apt to go astray. The big huge test will be Friday when we take my son off to Olive Garden with his dad and my daughter for the guys' birthday dinner. I am going to stick with a salad. No pasta, no bread. As tempting as it is, I am determined to get thru this and do this right. Plus, not going to overeat the salad either and careful about the dressing. I know Olive Garden likes to put out pumpkin cheesecake too which is just awesome! But oh man...talk about a huge fat pill! YIKES! So I thought ok, if anything? I take a bite. One. I've done that before too and been able to handle that. So that is the huge test to not order the pasta stuff and cheese stuff and all that good, fattening, yummy things. It's terrible when you crave that stuff and love it so much. I never really overeat but man....
And you know what else? It is really pretty bad when you have no gall bladder so anything too high in fat goes right thru you and yet? The fat part of it STICKS!! Geezzz...you'd think your body would just get rid of it, toss out what it does not need or want. But noooOOoooo it holds onto that part of it and then kills your whole system. I remind myself that I will feel lots of pain if I indulge, it will hit me either that night or the next day and I will feel so sluggish and rundown and tired, no matter how much sleep I've gotten. My body feels heavy. It really is a most distinct feeling. I can always tell when I've been away from Shakeology or ate badly for when next I drink my shake, I will get cleaned out.
It really is the best meal of the day that you can have!! I had to put it on hold for 3 months however for I have 3 whole pouches here at the house still to get thru as one pouch lasts me longer than a month. So I need to catch up! Will resume the auto shipments in January.
Ok so before I lose anymore time, I am off to shower!

Haven't Forgotten
It has not been an easy road to get going here and stick to it. Halloween is always a killer! Just had my son's physical earlier last week and sure enough, his cholesterol needs work too. Again, the normal numbers are fine but when you look deeper, further into the more detailed testing they are now doing, they are seeing that genetically, we are in trouble! YIKES!
At least I know it's more genetics, despite someone trying to blame me for his bad numbers. DOH!
I know genetics plays a big part of it and my son's father is taking cholesterol meds so his numbers are good due to that. I just really don't want to have to take them and I know I just have to get these numbers down.
It's not been easy at all and not just with Halloween but I can feel my plantar's fascitis is back. My feet have been hurting a lot as well as my knee when I knelt down on the one while away on my weekend getaway a week ago. Just made things worse.
BUT! I will not put up with this! NO NO NO! So...today, I will start back to working out 2 x a day and get my butt busy! No excuses. If I can move, I can workout. I often feel bad to take time away and not work but I have to remain focused and working out will help give me more energy too. I gotta do this and my son needs to do this too. We both have to lose the middle stuff, our bellies. I can tell with him stopping, he's gained it back and messed up his progress.
So this isn't a doom and gloom post, but a more determined than ever to do this type of post. Motivating, YES! Fussing, YES! Get your butt moving, YES YES YES!
Sometimes, I look in the mirror and I know I really don't have all that far to go. I really don't. With a little determination and motivation...dedication...all the 'ations', I can do this. I really can. I can't help but remember the dietician's words in that she was impressed with my knowledge. Yea, it's one thing to KNOW what you need to do, and it's another to do it. But that's a hurtle I can overcome and I can get myself to do it.
The plan then is to work out 2x a day. I just finished having some oatmeal with apples and cinnamon and some dates tossed in with some water and vitamins for breakfast and I just got back downstairs from working out with Power90, Sweat, on the yellow disk. About to have my snack (blueberry yogurt) and then 9:30 will be the 2nd workout with Shakeology workouts. Yes, I am going to do doubles this month. I'll do the 30 workout this week but next week, I will move to the 50. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, I'll also walk 45 mins in the morning. It is starting to get colder out tho' in the mornings so I may change this to evening/late afternoon walks with the warm sun shining.
I have the appointment with the dietician next week to talk with her again about my progress.
This Wednesday is the appointment with the cardiologist. That should be interesting to see. It's been a while since I've had my heart looked at. I have a right bundle branch block, RBBB. I was born with it and it was not discovered until I was transferring from active duty Air Force to the Reserves. I don't currently have any symptoms but it's good to have it checked out now and again to keep an eye on things. I was told that when I got older, I may have to have a pacemaker put in. What is a RBBB? Well, it's has to do with the electrical current in your heart that makes your heart pump. Normally, it comes from a node in the upper chamber of the heart that moves down to the ventricles and beats them and then it branches off to the left and to the right and goes up to the top of your heart.
Mayo Clinic Definition of RBBB
I am one of the rare cases that was born with this condition in an otherwise normal, healthy heart.
I already feel better for having done the workout this morning too! :) It was great to get back to it!
