Day 3

Finally, most of this cold has left! I have a lingering cough, tickle in the throat but that's it. So this past Monday, 12/26/11, I began to work out.

It was really hard to start again. I had to really push myself to get my butt up there and push play for Power90. I managed to do so, keeping in my mind it was only 35 mins or so, just half an hour, I can do that! So I did it! Although it is more like 40 minutes when you count the Ab Ripper 100 into it which is part of the Sweat portion of the program. It was difficult to get up there as I kept putting it off in the morning. Getting caught up with work, waking up late....having to wait at least 30 minutes after I ate, trying to get the snack in and again having to wait 30 minutes. I finally saw a window of opportunity however and just forced myself to get up there to do it!!

Of course, once I finished, I was so glad I made myself get up there!

Yesterday, was easier, knowing it was Sculpt and it's even less time than Sweat. To me, the Sculpt part is much easier and I enjoy it more as I am working with weights.  I'd rather that than to do the aerobic parts.

I put it into my mind that this is Power90, that means, 90 day program. Three months sounds like a long time, but it really isn't. Look, already December is about over! Where did the holiday time go? It just flies by! And, in just 3 months, the Ren Faire will start! Scarborough Faire! That brought to mind how last year, around this time, I had started to work out faithfully and had lost a good deal of weight and I was able to fit into a smaller bodice for Faire! I remember feeling so wonderful and the vendors could see the difference in me!! I was on air! At the Faire! ;)

I want that again...so, looking at that goal, I have a good three months to get there! That really just turned things around in my mind and three months no longer seems daunting but instead, I am glad and grateful for that time, to have it so I can really work on this weight and to feel healthier and trimmer!

Of course this wouldn't be the Wild Weight Loss Ride unless I dipped...so I did...yup, I am back to 199.5. Can you believe that?? Geeezz....but no sense beating myself up over it. I couldn't believe it but then again, I could believe it cause I was sure feeling fat the last week or two and then sick on top of that and just couldn't stop coughing and there goes incontinence and oh joy! Just really horrible. I ate bad, no exercising....so yea...kablam...
Did I really need to be smacked over the head yet again? Obviously so.

But...yea, no sense beating myself up anymore. I know the drill by now. I have to stop the yo-yo'ing. I know how to lose this, I know what to do. And...Beachbody is there, waiting to catch me and I can hear Tony talking to me and saying Wanda...get to it. Push play! You can do it! You can do it and stay there!
I know I have all the tools and have all the help and encouragement I could want and need. But I knew I needed to really commit myself....so I went back to WOWY. I wanted to on Monday but forgot to pull it up and the same yesterday. This morning, I was bound and determined so I went ahead and went to the site this morning before I went upstairs and got into WOWY in my account and scheduled the workout. Then I went upstairs and did it for Day 3!! I kept thinking yesterday, ok, 90 days...Day 1....Day 2...now, I just finished Day 3, that means I have 87 more days to go! I am going to count down! Count down my way to fitness!

I also saw where on WOWY, you can schedule a whole program onto your calendar! Oh I like that! I was looking for my Power90 chart/poster they send you but I can't find it. I wanted to cross off the days. Of course my Power90 DVD is so old now that that paper is probably long gone by now. I couldn't download another but that's ok, I was able to set it up on my calendar in WOWY and that will work. It will also help me to be accountable and responsible.

Of course, I have been drinking my Shakeology as well and did so here or there the past few months and it probably prevented me from gaining more than I did. I got a new scale for Xmas and also another pair of capri workout pants and top, new socks too. Hint and a half eh? No...I did ask for them.

I won't do doubles (two workouts in one day) until later on in the program. I am going to just stick with the Power90 alone for now as I know it has been way too long since I worked out and I don't want to kill my muscles. I am already a lil bit sore but I am already, starting to feel more energetic and more like my old self too! :)

I did take my measurements on Monday and logged them in. It was a bit sad to see them nearly back to what they were before but again, I know what to do to change that and fix that.

I get my new computer today and I can't wait to get things set up with that! I can catch up on my other blogs and I am so looking forward to it!

So we say goodbye to 2011. A year of alot of endings and some beginnings. I know 2012 will have a lot of new beginnings and a few endings but it should be a really great year in comparison to this year!

Crud is Nearly Gone!

I haven't forgotten, just been trying to rest a lot lately with this whole cold and allergy combo hitting me so hard. The coughing finally slowed to nearly nothing now. :)
I can still feel some congestion and some liquid in my sinuses but it's alot better than when I posted last!
I should be able to be back to working out again full on come Monday. I want to give myself a chance to rest a little longer to be sure. Of course cycle started as well so I feel like I hit the restart button somewhere in my body!

We didn't order as many goodies from Swiss Colony this time around so that is good, less in the house. I've been drinking alot of that green tea ginger ale with the added antioxidants. I know the soda part of it is not good tho' and so I picked up some coconut green tea which is very good! So I'll end up replacing the soda with that. Today is the last day for the soda.

I have been drinking water too, a lot of that as well and more peppermint tea. Trying to rest and take it easy as much as I can. I picked up a real tree and a rosemary wreath for my bedroom to help as well with my breathing and to make the air better in there and I have run my air filter more often to help as well with the allergies.

I can definitely feel and see an improvement. Not 100% yet but it's getting there. :)

I do feel motivated to pick up some more workout shorts/capri pants and get back to it! I am excited to be close to starting again and getting more fit by April before the Ren Faire starts! I felt so grand when I put my bodice on and had to use the one size smaller earlier this year! I just felt so wonderful like I wanted to just twirl and I could really see the difference too! I am just so close on the edge and I know it wouldn't take much at all!

Just have to get over this cold and then get to it!!!

I'll post again when I start! :)

The Attack of the Crud

Well the crud finally got me. Just as I was starting to work out, bammo, I picked up an upper respiratory infection that is going around. :(
This really has laid me low and scared the heck out of me, complete with breathing attacks, to where I feel I can't breathe in the middle of a coughing attack.

I had gone to the doc's the Monday of Thanksgiving week and got a double strength 3 Zpac but it didn't really take my cough away. My allegra was too old and I couldn't take that and needed more. Friday night, my son began to feel the same scratchy throat that I had started out with too and so by Sat morning, I knew I had to get him in to see the doc as well. I called up and was able to get a walk-in that morning! WOW! Talk about lucky! So I went along and got myself back in again too while I was at it.
She listened to my lungs and they are clear, thank goodness but she could hear me coughing and so gave me some cough suppressant with coedine as well as prednisone and had me pick up some allegra as she said they are no longer allowed to prescribe that since we can get it over the counter now.
For my son, he got straight up penicillin and some tessalon pearls. With him being a heart patient, I don't fool around with him having a cold. She had me pick up some AllegraD for him but not to take it until after his allergy testing. We just had part one of that completed yesterday and he'll go back on Wed, tomorrow for the other half. Looks like he has some allergies for a few things but not near as bad as myself and my daughter do. He'll get the food test done however tomorrow and we'll see and then figure out how best to approach his.

So here I am, back to whatever weight it may be. I haven't looked. The doc's had me back up to 194 but that's with clothes and after breakfast, etc etc. But I figure at least around 192. Now that I am just starting to feel better and have been able to finally sleep, I am back to starting to eat right. As soon as the cold is gone, I'll get back to working out. New goal now will be to trim up by Faire in April. It will give me enough time to do so. This cold has really knocked me for a loop tho' and I know I have to rest my body at this time and not push it.

Looks like a December start date then for the holiday workout.

Well It's Been Decided!

Tomorrow, 11/11/11 will kick off my holiday workout weight loss!
I know, most people gain during the holidays, but last year at this time, I started a workout plan and I had LOST, yes that's right, LOST weight! I was able to lose 27 inches last year from November to March and I was so excited and felt great! I plan on doing that again this year. Over the course of the year, I flipped back and forth from 185 to 190 something or other but I managed to wiggle back down to the 180s--187/186 or so.
I'll be doing measurements in the morning to document that before I begin to exercise. My eating will return to being strict again and I'll keep up the dedicated Shakeology.

I am going to return to WOWY on Beachbody to help keep me motivated and accountable. It's time to focus on ME! :) I don't like to wait for the New Year's Resolution, why wait? Nothing like starting NOW and to be so proud and excited too to lose the weight over the holiday time when everyone normally gains, you just gotta love that!!

Since I have been sedentary for a while again, I know when I start to exercise, I will start to see a good drop in weight and my muscles will be sore for a day or so. I'll not do doubles just yet, just wean myself into it. Power90 will start me off tomorrow and Sunday will be a day of rest as usual with Monday going back to it. 6 days a week for at least a week and then I will slowly start to incorporate the Shakeology workouts in there at least 3 days a week.

I plan to keep on track until February, when I should have completed Power90! So yellow disk for the rest of November and about halfway thru December, just before Xmas, I'll switch to the blue disk which is the next level.

I know that number for my weight seems like ALOT but it isn't. My little 5'2 body barely handles it, but hides the fat well so that I don't look like that weight. My arms are thin, legs are not bad either, the weight is all in the mid-section. Waist and hips mostly with some in the chest and thighs and buttocks. I am lucky in some ways as to how I carry my weight but it's tough to lose tho', especially when you have such a sweet tooth as I do.

My cords have been feeling a bit loose lately although I am still in size 16. My first goal is to get to size 14 and hold it there for a bit. So it's about 30 - 40 lbs to lose total. I know I can, just a matter of focusing and dedication.

So tomorrow is the day to begin!

Maintaining! Very Cool!

Back from my trip out to the Stanley Hotel and visiting friends and I was amazed that I was able to maintain my weight and not gain anything! I did take my Shakeology with me and tried to stick with the plan as best as I could. Walked a bit here or there, nothing too significant.

I will take measurements probably tonight and then hopefully be rested enough to jump back onto the horse and get busy working out! I plan on dedicating myself again over the holidays so I can lose another 10 lbs at the very least! I am so excited for it will put me into the 170s!! WOO HOO!!

So today is the last of the goodie day! :) Then I'll be taking most of the leftover Halloween candy to Moxley Manor for everyone to enjoy there including the customers for their Nightscare before Xmas haunt in a couple weeks.

I am excited tho' to be on this threshold now and to be moving on down!! I feel so motivated and excited for I thought surely, I would be sitting at 190 but NOPE!! Gotta love it!

THANK YOU SHAKEOLOGY!!

New Year's Resolution---Early!

Yes, I know, New Year's is so far away or seems like it from now. It's just about Halloween and not even Thanksgiving. But last year around this time, I dedicated myself to working out and where normally, most people gain about 10 lbs over the holidays, I lost 10 lbs! I was so ecstatic about having done that too and over the holidays!!

So in essence, this time of year is when I really do my New Year's resolution. Of course it is the start of the New Year for Celtic beliefs so I am going with that and not going to put it off!

Now this next 10 lbs is probably going to be the hardest for me to lose. I have not seen the 170s in so many years now and I know I am fighting age and peri-menopause and all that junk. Most women my age get thick around the middle and lose their waistlines. It's just crap!

I refuse to succumb and I refuse to settle for that!

So, my resolution is to follow Power90 AND! I am going back to WOWY too. I'll be checking in twice a day and going back to doubles when I get back from my trip in early November. I return on the 8th so I'll begin on the 9th. It won't be easy but nothing worth having is ever truly that easy!

I am going to put off getting my cholesterol checked again too until I finish Power90 in February. I want to be able to give it my all first. I'll be checking in here to keep myself accountable to myself. I'll take measurements again to see what I am starting with and then go for it! Check them each week.

I'll of course continue with Shakeology and their workouts too.

That's the plan and my biggest goal will be to keep myself motivated! I know I can do it, just have to do so!

Dedicate! Focus! Push Play!!

Rocky, I am thinking of you my friend and workout pal!

This time of year..

This time of year always seems to be my biggest challenge, Halloween. This is the time that I start to bake, if I am going to and prepare for my favorite holiday of all! I am good with the candy being in the house, once it is bagged into ziplock bags, I don't touch it.
My daughter's party was an absolute blast! I didn't go too hogwild tho' I did allow myself some goodies. My son was able to maintain his 169.5 throughout the whole weekend which is wild considering we had pizza and soda and all sorts of stuff. He watched what he ate however and how much, so that was very cool!
I did the same pretty much tho' I have not weighed myself at all. I will probably wait until I get back from the Stanley Hotel trip on the 8th of November and then take measurements and weight and see where I am at.

I adore this time of year but I will be glad when it's all said and done and I can relax again and really dedicate myself, get motivated and shoot for the moon in working out!

Last year, I did the same thing and lost 10 lbs over the winter. I've managed to be about at that point again with the loss already behind me. March 2011, I was 185. :) So last I checked, that was only 2 lbs away!

I haven't been walking at all as my plantars is now back with a vengence. (Ouch!) I have gone back to stretching exercises now in the morning and I have to remember to stay off the cement in bare feet or socks and make sure I wear my sneakers. I've been volunteering at the local haunted house and so I am standing for a few hours at a time there and I quickly realized I had to wear my sneakers there that are the most comfortable so my feet do not hurt so badly by the end of the night.
Need to be sure I drink water more so then too.

Well I just wanted to check in here before it gets too crazy busy. We have the Halloween decorating contest today and tomorrow, exciting! I'll post back in when I get back from my trip on the 8th or 9th and we'll get started back at it again more regularly! Oh to lose another 10 lbs over the winter! How grand that would be to be back in the 170s!!! I'd be ecstatic! Just small little goals like that makes it all seem just in reach!! Love it!!

Time keeps on slippin...

Time has just flown by as it always does this time of year! I haven't been able to really dedicate myself to working out. I was good for a week but so much came up with all the preparations for Halloween and my daughter's birthday and party, it's been just absolutely crazy!

I did speak to the dietician and my numbers had not really changed, mostly just maintained which at first, I had jumped up and then worked my way back down again. I seem to be stuck at this one spot however and not able to move much...

That is...until recently! I had decided to go ahead and weigh myself as I have not done so in a long while and as my exercising slowed to nil pretty much and I was eating for the most part, pretty good still. I had a feeling, fearing that most likely, I had slipped back into the 190s. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was actually down and was at 187 flat! Awesome!

After seeing the cardiologist, that's when I lost my motivation. Hearing him not too concerned over the lower cholesterol numbers like my regular doc was as he seemed to dismiss it to just lifestyle or genetics and told me that he wasn't worried about those numbers, just mostly the top ones, from the regular cholesterol testing. I was like dang...did I get the fear put into me more than what was needed?? I don't know...

What I do know however, is that my family does have a bad history when it comes to being overweight and inactive. As they get older, the less they did, the more weight they gained and the more out of shape they became. I would not have called any of them obese per se, but my father had gotten very heavy just before he died. He was probably the closest to that aside from my mother who was overweight too, not obese when I think of obese I think of 400 or so lbs. I know the charts say you are obese before that number, but oh well. Let's just say...FAT!

With everything going on however, I thought that I would take a break and focus then on decorating of the house and cleaning up and getting things ready for the big party this Saturday. It's fastly approaching and I don't have near the things done that I had wanted to. I am going to try to get all done that I can however. Meanwhile, I am eating fairly well and will remain on track there!

Once I get back from my trip out to Colorado, I'll dedicate myself again like I did last year at this time and focus then on working out and keep it up. With no more trips nor anything huge going on, I can committ myself to it. I was hoping to get P90X this year but I may wait now til next year to transition from Power90 then. I WILL finish Power90 however! I am determined to do so and to move from the yellow disk to the blue!! I know I can do it!

I did not make anymore phone appointments with the dietician. She didn't seem to really see a need for them unless I wanted them and well, I know what to do, it just comes down to me doing it. So...I have to get busy!

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Ow! But Good!

Been working out 2x a day now since Monday and my muscles are very sore but I feel tons more stronger and better already! It does not take much to really drive up your energy when you exercise like that. I just finished my Shakeology shake and cooling down with some more water. I've been trying to consciously drink more water too. I didn't weigh myself today, but yesterday was at 188.5 so I feel really good! I am hoping to see 185 or so by Monday before the dietician calls. That would be awesome!

To do that, I have to stick to it and be careful with what I eat. I am not sure if that is doable really but heck, I am going to try my best!

I finally stopped eating those dang Reeses PeanutButter Pumpkins they have out for Halloween. Oh man...those just kill me! My last one was on Sunday and I am doing really good! Of course my daughter comes home and brings me one yesterday from the grocery store! YIKES! I laughed and said noooooo and so I just put it under a shelf here in my office so I don't see it. I will wait to eat it...many days from now. It was nice of her to think of me, knowing how much I love those things but I really want to see how well I can do here in one month's time before I go off to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado to go ghost hunting with Zak and Aaron from Ghost Adventures. I have the picture of all three of them (with Nick) from GAC framed and sitting on the dvd bookcase up there in the movie room and am trying to think of it as them encouraging me. Hey, I'll take all the motivation I can create eh?!  How can you not want to work out with beefed up men? Hmmm I should line the walls up there with pics of muscle builders!!

I have thought of getting one of those calendars with very obese women and using it as my motivation. I have to give them alot of credit for that but it is a state that I do not wish to go to for my poor little body can not take too much weight on it. I am about at my limit to where it can stand. Although my feet are hurting lately and not from exercising, I know it's the plantar's. The left one has been stinging. I have to go back to my stretching exercises. I should also take a nice hot bath and soak my legs and feet some more.

Today is the cardiologist visit. I finished filling out the paperwork just before this 2nd workout and got it in my purse so I don't forget. I should shower now and then also look to see if I can find my own medical records from the military that I had kept.

Halloween is coming and my daughter's party and I am feeling like I am getting overwhelmed and frazzled a bit. I will feel better tho' I know once I have the graveyard up outside and work on the inside too this weekend as well as the garage. I have to start to go thru the boxes and bins that we hauled inside. Get things put together and start the projects too. I've been listening to a lot of Nox Arcana and Midnight Syndicate for good graveyard music. Oohh and the newest Nox Arcana cd is on it's way! I am excited to hear it!

Ok back to the weight loss....I gotta keep doing this...not stop! I wanted to walk too but with my feet hurting lately, I figured I might want to just take it easy on that part. I have been able to feel my ankle that I had twisted on those two falls is starting to get better. It was pretty tender and sore when I went to stretch it but it's starting to be less painful now.  I am so glad I did not injure myself worse and put myself out of commission. I have been able to heal fairly well and get back on the horse! Awesome!

I am curious as to what my belly will measure on Monday morning. With the weekend coming up, I have to be extra careful for that is when I am apt to go astray. The big huge test will be Friday when we take my son off to Olive Garden with his dad and my daughter for the guys' birthday dinner. I am going to stick with a salad. No pasta, no bread. As tempting as it is, I am determined to get thru this and do this right. Plus, not going to overeat the salad either and careful about the dressing. I know Olive Garden likes to put out pumpkin cheesecake too which is just awesome! But oh man...talk about a huge fat pill! YIKES! So I thought ok, if anything? I take a bite. One. I've done that before too and been able to handle that. So that is the huge test to not order the pasta stuff and cheese stuff and all that good, fattening, yummy things. It's terrible when you crave that stuff and love it so much. I never really overeat but man....

And you know what else? It is really pretty bad when you have no gall bladder so anything too high in fat goes right thru you and yet? The fat part of it STICKS!! Geezzz...you'd think your body would just get rid of it, toss out what it does not need or want. But noooOOoooo it holds onto that part of it and then kills your whole system. I remind myself that I will feel lots of pain if I indulge, it will hit me either that night or the next day and I will feel so sluggish and rundown and tired, no matter how much sleep I've gotten. My body feels heavy. It really is a most distinct feeling. I can always tell when I've been away from Shakeology or ate badly for when next I drink my shake, I will get cleaned out.
It really is the best meal of the day that you can have!! I had to put it on hold for 3 months however for I have 3 whole pouches here at the house still to get thru as one pouch lasts me longer than a month. So I need to catch up! Will resume the auto shipments in January.

Ok so before I lose anymore time, I am off to shower!

Haven't Forgotten

It has not been an easy road to get going here and stick to it. Halloween is always a killer! Just had my son's physical earlier last week and sure enough, his cholesterol needs work too. Again, the normal numbers are fine but when you look deeper, further into the more detailed testing they are now doing, they are seeing that genetically, we are in trouble! YIKES!

At least I know it's more genetics, despite someone trying to blame me for his bad numbers. DOH!
I know genetics plays a big part of it and my son's father is taking cholesterol meds so his numbers are good due to that. I just really don't want to have to take them and I know I just have to get these numbers down.

It's not been easy at all and not just with Halloween but I can feel my plantar's fascitis is back. My feet have been hurting a lot as well as my knee when I knelt down on the one while away on my weekend getaway a week ago. Just made things worse.

BUT! I will not put up with this! NO NO NO! So...today, I will start back to working out 2 x a day and get my butt busy!  No excuses. If I can move, I can workout. I often feel bad to take time away and not work but I have to remain focused and working out will help give me more energy too. I gotta do this and my son needs to do this too. We both have to lose the middle stuff, our bellies. I can tell with him stopping, he's gained it back and messed up his progress.

So this isn't a doom and gloom post, but a more determined than ever to do this type of post. Motivating, YES! Fussing, YES! Get your butt moving, YES YES YES!

Sometimes, I look in the mirror and I know I really don't have all that far to go. I really don't. With a little determination and motivation...dedication...all the 'ations', I can do this. I really can. I can't help but remember the dietician's words in that she was impressed with my knowledge. Yea, it's one thing to KNOW what you need to do, and it's another to do it. But that's a hurtle I can overcome and I can get myself to do it.

The plan then is to work out 2x a day. I just finished having some oatmeal with apples and cinnamon and some dates tossed in with some water and vitamins for breakfast and I just got back downstairs from working out with Power90, Sweat, on the yellow disk. About to have my snack (blueberry yogurt) and then 9:30 will be the 2nd workout with Shakeology workouts. Yes, I am going to do doubles this month. I'll do the 30 workout this week but next week, I will move to the 50. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, I'll also walk 45 mins in the morning. It is starting to get colder out tho' in the mornings so I may change this to evening/late afternoon walks with the warm sun shining.

I have the appointment with the dietician next week to talk with her again about my progress.
This Wednesday is the appointment with the cardiologist. That should be interesting to see. It's been a while since I've had my heart looked at. I have a right bundle branch block, RBBB. I was born with it and it was not discovered until I was transferring from active duty Air Force to the Reserves. I don't currently have any symptoms but it's good to have it checked out now and again to keep an eye on things. I was told that when I got older, I may have to have a pacemaker put in. What is a RBBB? Well, it's has to do with the electrical current in your heart that makes your heart pump. Normally, it comes from a node in the upper chamber of the heart that moves down to the ventricles and beats them and then it branches off to the left and to the right and goes up to the top of your heart.
Mayo Clinic Definition of RBBB
I am one of the rare cases that was born with this condition in an otherwise normal, healthy heart.

I already feel better for having done the workout this morning too! :) It was great to get back to it!

Dietician --Keeping Accountable

Spoke to the dietician this morning about my progress. I was able to tell her 187.5! YES! And an inch here or there. Not too bad for 3 weeks. She gave me praise for picking myself back up after the fall I took on the streets of Seattle. I didn't let it stop me completely.

I did walk on Saturday morning, just the 20 minutes and today, I was going to but decided to rest a bit more instead and then later on, I worked out with Power90, just after her call.

I already feel pretty good now that I am back on track again. She sent me another handout about some breathing techniques and about the significance of stress that has to do with weight loss. I know that right now, I am battling alot of things. Stress from many different facets of my life as well as age and genetics. It's not an easy battle at all and I know I am struggling BUT! I am doing it. Slow but sure. I have been able to maintain and hold my own in this area and not go above this range I am stuck at right now. So I know it's time to move down a bit more now. Then hold that.

I only have about 6 weeks to go before I head off for Estes Park, CO to the ghost hunting event with Ghost Adventures and Darkness Radio at the Stanley Hotel. I am not sure if I will be able to fit into the Catwoman outfit but I am hoping so! I will try it on here soon to see if this is even going to be possible or if I should see about a different sort of outfit.

I feel pretty good tho' and hearing her words today of how impressed she is with me and the knowledge I do have and all that I am trying to do, made me feel good. I have always known what I need to do, the problem is doing it! Isn't that everyone's issue?

I do need to toss in some beans more so she said. I bought the dark red kidney beans, just haven't put them into anything yet. I have eaten more regular beans however. I did pick up some oatmeal and some dried dates and I had that for breakfast yesterday. The maple and brown sugar oatmeal and dates, a few walnuts and then some fresh cold apple pieces, chopped up, just a quarter of a Granny Smith apple. It was very similiar to the oatmeal that McDonald's offers which is really good by the way!

I know one of my biggest weakness is coming up...Halloween. Oy! That is going to be super hard! I already have tons of candy in the house ready to be bagged for Halloween. I just need to get the spider rings and whatnot so then I can bag it all. Lots n lots to prepare for! I haven't eaten any of that candy tho' yet, not a single bite so I've been good there. None of the bags are even open yet.

But as the dietician said, slow but sure. It felt good to be back at Power90 again. Perhaps I may slip to the blue disk (longer workouts) come October. I think I will be ready for it. It would be grand to actually finish Power90!! I so can't wait to be able to do so!!

Well for now, time for the nuts and half of an apple! YUM!

Oopsy Daisy!

Man o man....trips are so hard on me! I always have good intentions and then something always seems to go by the wayside. I did take my Shakeology tho' and I think that helped me from gaining too much. I did seem to return home after both trips with the 4 lbs back on but! I think it might have been water weight or such for already I am back down the 2 lbs. I know the back and forth is very unhealthy so I am hoping that I can move down beyond the 4 at least and then hold that while I go on..yet...yes another trip!

But this next one will be only for 4 days and I will definitely be taking my Shakeology with me. :) I also plan on eating well too as I will be far away from fast food places as I will be staying at a summer camp deep in the mountains of PA. I so can't wait! It will be a very relaxing and most beautiful trip!

Monday, I have the appt with the dietician however to talk of my progress. I did walk yesterday but...the subject in this post is...oopsy daisy for yes...wouldn't you know it, I was walking along the street with my wedge sandals and I must have hit a crack or an uneven surface for down I went right in the middle of the busy street in Seattle!! It was one of those "I meant to do that" moments!

Of course it was the same ankle that got twisted and this time, I did fall on the left knee but on the hard pebbled street and skinned my knee bad. Luckily, I had on pants and so I did not bleed but it scraped off the skin all the way to just above the bleeding part. Oh yea!

So my ankle is sore as it my other leg too. It did not swell too bad and I was able to get up a bit more easily than the first time I had fallen. Since then, I have healed somewhat but I went out to walk yesterday morning and could not do the full 45 minutes and I only did 20 minutes. This morning I didn't get to go take the walk as I had to go to the base when I woke up so that I could go and get my military ID renewed and then hit the commissary to pick up a few groceries. I did make sure and pick up some fresh fruit and veggies and lettuce. I did pick up some oatmeal too a couple weeks ago and some dried dates to add into it for some breakfasts.  Picked up some more nuts too.

I hope that I can continue to remain on track now and start to move further down in the 180s! I have been starting to feel better however and glad to be home so I can keep to my schedule and get back to working out hopefully come Monday.

Tomorrow however, I'll be working around the house and going thru things for the garage sale and also will be relaxing some too and work on my course. :)

Oh and I did ditch my scale too and put it in the stack of things to sell as it doesn't seem to work well and I will have to pick up a regular old scale.

I've been approached by a few people from Beachbody to be my coach but I really just want to do this on my own. For me. :) I appreciate the help but I will feel tons better knowing it was ME who pulled myself thru this and it was ME alone, having the strength and courage and self-motivation to make better choices in my life to make me be a more fit and healthy person. So thank you coaches, but I'll be going this alone. I would be a coach myself for I know that I am a great motivational speaker myself and I know I can inspire with my enthusiasm and excitement but, my plate is so dang full right now, I barely have time for me or to keep up with the blogs. I still have to get my butt over to the travel one and get busy on it!!

Well time to head off for now! I am so glad it has been cooler here too lately! Goodbye 100s! YAY!

Melting...

YES!!! I am melting away.....fat is melting away in rivulets of sweat...OH YEA!

I know my scale is really wacky at times and I know I know I KNOW I should know be looking at it daily but you know...hehe yes you know, that when you do and you take a peek and watch those numbers fall away and get lower, it really does give you a huge boost and tremendous encouragement!

Today was 187! Flat! I was like wow...at first it looked like 188, but I hit the reset and tried once more just to be sure. And bammo! So the only way to know for sure is to use the old scale and I will probably take a peek tomorrow morning there just to be sure. But it makes me excited to think just 7 pounds left and I will be at the 180 mark! I have not seen 170s in ever so long! I can feel I am getting stronger each and every day that I am working out.

I do like the routine I am currently in too and I know come Sunday that is going to kinda get blown out of the water a wee bit in that, I won't be here for my normal schedule as I will be heading off to Seattle to visit a friend.

SO!
The trick there is to take my Shakeology with me and I am going to take my workout clothes with me too as well as the dvds that I am currently working out with. I am thinking of leaving the yellow Power90 here tho' and taking the blue one instead along with the Shakeology 50 workout. I really want to be sure I do not gain while I am away for 4 days. I'll take my nuts and that will help me out as well. I can workout in the room or usually the hotel has a gym. I'll be out on the beach a bit also so I will be sure and walk that. :)

This is another of those stumbling blocks whenever I start to work out, the trips. Not going hogwild during them and not ditching the exercising either.

This time however...I do have a goal and it's so very important. I hate that it took my health to make me really buckle down and do this, dedicate myself which I should have done a long time ago, but, hey, no sense beating myself up for that, but just learn and go forward!

For so long now, I haven't really been taking care of myself. I often think of Jack LaLanne's words about eating the right kinds of foods. I think about the "You are what you eat" bit too. I must be an orange cupcake then! Or something anyway...I do have to say tho', kudos to me, YAY me for not eating junk! My son even asked me if I wanted ice cream the other night or a bite? I said nope. Nope nope nope. I was emphatic and strong and there was no way I was going to have ice cream after having dropped 2 lbs the other night! OHh noooooo I am so not doing that!
I have been able to be strict and maintain my diet that Shakeology suggests with only a few modifications. They really have taught me alot about eating better and I feel even better for having passed it thru the dietician too!

Ok time for that yogurt now! :) And before I head off rambling on here this morning!
I hope you all have a most grand weekend for anyone who may read this.

Something for you that I caught on the Power90 dvd as I was turning it off this morning...

You are closer than you think...

Very true!! Enjoy!

Just Before the Rain

I could not believe I saw 188 flat out yesterday! It's the same this morning! I am so excited to see it move so fast like that! I didn't get to take my walk yesterday but that is ok with just starting out again. My feet were a little sore.

I did set my alarm for this morning however as I woke up around 5 and fell back asleep til the alarm woke me at 6. I was able to get up and get dressed and head out into the dark of the early morning to take my walk. It seemed a bit darker and I quickly found out why. Lightning! I thought I saw a flash while putting my Sketchers on this morning and sure enough, when I got to the back of the house, there was a nice solid streak of lightning! I heard thunder later on and I saw the clouds all to the east. I didn't think it would come back around our way but it did. I walked a bit faster to try to stay ahead of the little summer storm and I managed to get my entire walk in just as I was walking down towards my house and saw the clouds coming and I could see the rain sheet headed our way!

The sunrise was really cool as the clouds were hanging low and made it appear there were mountains further beyond tho' I knew better. It also had these streaks horizontally across the sky and it looked like steps or bars and it was really neat!

I did manage to get inside however in time before the rain kicked in and the lights faded even with the lightning and thunder. Awesome!

I am already feeling stronger, lighter and just more energized. I've been keeping to the schedule although yesterday, my timing was off some but again, that's ok. It's back on track today no worries! I know as the summer fades and autumn comes around and into winter, I will have more rainy days and sometimes I won't be able to go for a walk with the storms we get here at that time of the year. It wasn't as humid out this morning and oh I can't wait for autumn!

Ok off for yogurt and a shower! Oohh and before I go, this morning I saw Aaron Goodwin make a blog post too about losing weight and how he just had replaced all the junk with good food! Good for you Aaron!! Losing over 50 lbs! WOW! He stopped eating fast food or junk food. That's just amazing!
I hope to follow in his BIG STEPS! ;)

Weight Training

Well today was day 2 of the new schedule, took my walk. I had woken up a lil later but I managed to get out there to have a full 45 mins of walking time and make it home by 7. I was a bit tired but had an odd dream. A continuation of a previous one I had had before. Made me smile anyway and off I went. Still humid and I could not help but think of how nice it will be when the humid finally fades away and we start to have cooler temps in the mornings and nights.
I simply can't wait til fall! I thought about extending the walks then and may even start to do so in the evenings too and stroll on down to other neighborhoods so I can see their Halloween decorations. How fun that would be! That is the one thing I miss out on staying at home on Halloween to pass out candy and such, is that I don't get to see other's sets up too much.

So I went on upstairs and completed the weight training part of Power90. It always goes by so swiftly and it's really not that hard at all. I think I may do so for another 2 weeks and then see about moving on to the blue disk. I need to get used to the yellow one first however as I don't want to overdo it but I am most anxious to get moving on this time.

I peeked at the scale and saw it 189.4. I had crept to 190.2 or so Monday morning. Forgot to take my measurements too last night so will do so today.

I did get those apples and yogurt yesterday and had a chicken salad for dinner last night although I did not use all that lettuce that came with it as it was way too much. So I halved it and saved the lettuce for tonight. I am thinking of possibly having a salmon burger, half of one with that lettuce and maybe toss in some broccoli and maybe some granola just because, a smidge of dressing.

I am feeling a bit sleepy and know I need to make my bedtime strict so I can make sure I am getting enough rest. I was proud of myself for finally posting on the Ghostly Journal blog with another chapter in the Stanley Hotel event in March. I should have one more to go on that. I have to work on the travel blog yet and start to upload more pics to facebook...tons n tons to do!

It felt good tho' to get back to it yesterday and this morning. The walk really helps me to wake up in the mornings. I feel lighter and more energized.

So with that! I am off to get my yogurt, drink more water and then shower and relax for the rest of the day!

New Routine

Now that school has started, I've started a new routine! :)

I was up at 6 to take my walk and back home to eat breakfast and then once my daughter was off to school, went up to workout with Power90! :) It felt good to get back to it.

I am to talk to the dietician here at any time they are to call me. I am a bit anxious about it but I have a feeling I know what she will say...eat more veggies! *ugh*

It was humid out this morning but nice to hit a few sprinklers or rather be hit by them!
And I avoided getting sprayed by the cars rippin thru the puddle. Haha!

I do have to say however that I had that snake on my mind that that guy found while I was out walking before. Made me a little leary that one might be in the grass so I keep to the middle of the sidewalk because they get huge here! Most of the time tho', they won't bother you so long as you are not threatening to them.

Ok here is the call!

Wow...ok...I went over my diet and exercise programs and even gave her my measurements and weight and height. She said it sounded like I was on track and doing what I should be doing and eating fairly well. YAY! Of course that is IF I stick to the diet right! LMAO
That's always the trick eh? Sticking to it!

So anyway, she is going to send me a few handouts in my email to help me to see what I may do or eat that will help to lower those high numbers. She did mention oats and legumes/beans...to add in somewhere. I do like both tho' I tend to stay away from beans pretty much due to the gas issues that creates! Hahaha...

I have been having some granola lately to include some oats. She did mention the Fiber One cereal as not really giving you all that much fiber really. I was having that once in a blue moon and not too often anyway as I don't tend to care much for cereal a whole lot. I would rather have the SW EggBeaters or the single toast with whole natural pb and some whole fruit/fiber jelly with the grapefruit.

So, I need to hit the grocery store and pick up some more yogurt. I was ready for her to say ixnay on that. I also have to pick up some apples as well as I ran out.

One thing she did not mention that I thought she might was to include more veggies and/or salads. I was wanting to include some salads more so in my dinner meals. I didn't mention those to her but I may do that anyway.

So I have a follow-up appointment to talk with her again in 3 weeks. I will really have to dedicate myself from here on out tho' if I want to fix these numbers on my cholesterol plus, I am really wanting to lose some weight and inches too before November when I go off to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO for a Ghost Hunting event with Ghost Adventures' Zak and Aaron plus many others who are big in the paranormal field. They are to have a costume party the first night and I really want to look my best. Of course not only that but I figure I only have a few more months after that, 6 or so, til the Ren Faire here and I really want to be more fit then too. So lots of long term goals, some short ones as I would like to be able to tell her that I've lost more weight and inches!

That puts me at getting myself motivated! I think now that my daughter is back to school, I can easily step into the routine and schedule of working out. My downfall is dinner. I have to get myself eating better there. Keeping a close eye on portion control and choices. That's always the tough one for when everyone comes together to eat and it's sooooo easy to make that stuffed shells or fattening stuff. Pasta and biscuits and bread...oh my!

I have gotten away from pastas and the breads so much. We used to eat those a great deal as I was growing up. I remained skinny back in those days for I was a lot more active! That's always been my biggest problem is that I stopped being so active. I've slowly been getting myself back into it and then I falter, as my history can tell and show.  That's the part that just really is ....frustrating!

How to not fall back? How not to lose motivation? Perhaps checking in with Julie (the dietician) will help. I know BeachBody helps too with their WOWY program even and even checking in there online before I workout makes you feel accountable and responsible. I have to get back to doing that too. Perhaps I can create a better routine and stick to it now. It is still not easy tho'. So much of you just wants to curl up in bed and watch movies and have ice cream or popcorn or blah blah ...soda....
All of that junk. I did notice that my weight would jump with ice cream. Wouldn't it be nice if it was just opposite? Aye well....

One thing Julie said was to not weigh myself every day. Oh boy, that one is tough! I like to keep watch on the numbers more closely. I know I will be taking measurements tonight however to see where I am at. So I'll be talking with her again on the 12th. That should be interesting and if I can stick to this and do well and my numbers go down, inches, weight...I should reward myself with something nice. But NOT food! Something else instead, like a new blouse...Halloween prop...haahhaa...something good.

Ok. I am gonna sign off for now and see about my Shakeology shake!
Then head off to get those apples!

The Good n The Bad...

Well the good news is that I just saw 189.4 this morning! WOO HOO! I knew I would probably do so as I just have not felt like eating much recently after the doc visit...which leads me to the bad news...

Bad news....I spoke to my doc and on the normal testing for cholesterol, my numbers are fine! YAY!
But....when they took the LDL numbers and broke it down even further, which is why they are taking now like 5 tubes of blood instead of the two...the numbers are bad.

I don't have to take baby aspirin, luckily, but I wouldn't have minded that so much. The numbers for that part of the test came out just fine. I also know I have excellent blood pressure. I always have had good bp throughout my life, even while pregnant, my bp was very calm and normal. Doctors and hospitals really don't get me nervous at all. Probably because I am so used to being inside those offices from all the trips with my son that's it has just become old hat.

So anyway, the numbers that are bad show that I am a candidate for cardiovascular disease, genetically and from what I could tell with my own research, is that my blood is really carrying those fat cells around. :(

My doc knows how much I really detest taking medication of any kind and right now, I am not on anything but just vitamin supplements and that's it. So, in light of that, she is going to give me 4 months to lower those numbers and if I can't then she will be putting me on a low dose cholesterol meds. :(
I reeeeeaalllyy don't wanna....I really don't. I will eat grass and dandelions if I have to!

She told me of the number for the dietician on the last page of the report that I am to call and she will have those results and we can talk it over and see what I need to be eating more of. I already know what is coming, more vegetables. I've never been much of a veggie eater, but I already know that's what's coming. Plus of course, exercising! I have to get my behind out there and really get serious.
I've had so much going on here as of late that I haven't gone out for my walks but I am going to have to start to do so now on a more regular basis and work out as well here at the house.

I am thinking of going over to the gym this fall and see if I can get a routine going over there maybe. But before I go that route, I really want to get things moving and grooving here at the house. So I'll be hitting Power90 and see how that goes for 3 months and if not, will head over to the gym too and maybe move then to either P90X or to the Project: YOU series that I've had here for some time.

Now that I am in the 180s, I really need to focus and get this weight off me and melt off those inches! My health is fussing and I had better listen to it!

So here we go....tomorrow is the mammogram but I can still get in the walk at the very least and possibly one workout. I am going to get my behind in bed too at a more decent hour so I can get my proper rest as well.

Well that's about it for the good and bad...I can just hear the crunching of salads in my future...

Creepin along..

190.2! WOO HOO! Hehehe...I have been keeping with Shakeology and worked out on Monday. I wasn't able to yesterday as I had those errands and appt to go to in the morning but that was ok. I stuck with the plan as much as I could and this morning I woke to near ready to break that big number!

I'll be back to working out again tomorrow but wanted to give my legs and feet one more day of rest since they have been so sore. I know they need some time to recover from the intense walking on the Sketchers.

I am so looking forward to the heat here in Texas to ease off and get away from the three digit temps!

I do have to say tho' that I am feeling so much lighter and more energetic again. It is so wild to me that just your food choices can weigh you down, you know? It's just wild how it can make you feel so sluggish and wreak havoc on your body. I can't help but think of that food eating guy and all the junk he fills his body with and I can't imagine the damage or harm he must be doing to all his systems. Because one thing affects another and it just ripples on from there like ripples on a pond.
Even rest has a huge impact. I tend not to work out too early in the morning if I have not had enough rest the night before. I have experienced where if you don't get enough rest and sleep that you can become ill.

Even now, with all the stress and things going on, I have felt like I was getting a sore throat. Course, singing along with Patsy Cline will get you too! ;) So it meant nice herbal hot tea for me and more rest and lots more water and liquids.

I am thinking I may just take some workout clothes to Seattle with me when I go there and workout in the hotel's fitness center or even just take my Power90 cd with me :)

Ok time to get to work! Just wanted to give a quick update!

Going down....

I got my walks in every day last week and took Sunday as my day off. I've also been getting back to eating better and I already am feeling tons better!

I saw 191.4!! WOO HOO! I was even bad yesterday and had pizza and some m&ms. Just got back from my walk today and feel great!

Later on, I'll be starting Power90 again, adding that to my walking. Next week, I'll add in Shakeology as well and get back to that. I plan on remaining with the yellow disc of Power90 until September and then I will switch to the blue one. That's my plan! :)

As the temps cool off, I may increase the walks. I had been feeling like my calves and feet have been hurting and I've been worried that my plantar's fascitis was coming back but I think it may just be the new Sketchers as they are working my legs well and I could just be tight from them. :) But I thought as it cools down, I could take walks further into the other neighborhoods and see if they are putting up Halloween decorations come September/October.

It really felt wonderful to be out there walking this morning and it hit me that I have been able to walk every morning I wanted to without worrying over it raining and that it had not done so in so long! The air was a lil cool and it felt wonderful as I returned along the pond.

Oh! I did pick up an iPod too and I just sent for a pink skin with an exercise arm band! I am thinking if I start that Project YOU program after Power90, I may see about moving her walking cd over to my iPod and use it! That would be great as I never did get to open that and use that program. I forget when I purchased it or why I had given up on it. I have a feeling it was when I got the plantars really bad to where I could barely walk or stand. I've been doing my lil stretches and moving my feet each morning before I get out of bed. It really does make you feel old when you are hobbling like that.

Well time to get some more water! I do love my Sparkletts water! I have my own cooler and it's just the best drinking water! I have it delivered in large 5 gallon jugs. I wonder if my father could have, if he would have done the same? I know he would have loved all the fresh water tho' and to have it so cold like that but he would have hated to have paid for it. I remember the days still when I was little when my father had predicted that people would eventually be paying for water. Being the fisherman, he had seen up close and first hand how the rivers and lakes were being polluted. We drank city water for years and it was very bad water. When we moved to the sticks, we drank water from an artisan well fed by underground springs but having the creek running alongside our house and playing in the rapids and such as I grew up, I could see the foam of pollution in that water now and then. Most of the time, the water was clear and I still remember the icy water flowing down off the hills, feeding it...but still we always suspected that it was being polluted further up from us.
But my dad knew...

I had started to drink bottled water since going into the AF and their water tasted bad and I just could not get used to it at the different bases I lived on. Once I got into drinking bottled water, that was it. I began to buy it all the time and put it into the fridge like we did with the city water as I was growing up. Since I had lived in Vegas however, I got one of those dispensers/coolers. I started out renting one from Sparkletts but then after a while I realized I could buy one of my own and be cheaper in the end so that's what I did. The one I have has both cold and hot water so I can have instant hot tea too if I want at anytime and have no need for a tea kettle. :)

Well time to get to work! Feels good to be going DOWN! :) Now to keep that trend and get my workouts going! Tomorrow is going to be a lil hairy tho' and I may not be able to take my walk as my son has an appt in the morning I have to take him to.
Thursday, I'll be talkin to my doc about my cholesterol and those high numbers when they did the detailed testing. I just hope she does not try to prescribe Crestor or something. I really do not want to take any meds if  I don't have to and would rather just alter things with diet and exercise.

Oh and I have to call to set up my mammogram and also get over to see the cardiologist since it has been years since my heart was checked out. I'll get into that in another post. :)

Off for more water!

Not surprised...

Just before my walk this morning, I peeked and sure enough, I am back down to 192.4! :) I had a feeling alot of that was water weight as I felt my feet had swelled up there at the end and I knew Shakeology would set me to rights again!

I hope it continues to go down and now I just have to continue to eat better and back to my normal routine and continue with the exercising again too!

It was darker out this morning and the houses across the way almost looked like the pyramids again! I know as the days go bye, it will start to get darker and darker outside as summer begins to fade away to make room for autumn. I know all of us here in Texas are more than ready for the heat to GO! The 3 digit heat reminds me of Vegas. It's really bad! We even lost our power yesterday with a blackout due to the extreme heat. It wasn't for long but topping at 108 here, was really bad. It is to be in the 100s the rest of the week! We could sure use a break!

My ankle is slowly getting better and I think I did something more than a simple twist when I had fallen. It's still not quite right but it's getting there and with me staying off it most of the day, it's healing. My legs and feet however seem to be sore when I wake in the morning, reminescent of the plantar's fascitis. I sure hope not. So I am trying to be careful and I will walk again tomorrow morning and then skip Sunday and starting Monday, I'll continue with the walking and start up Power90 again.
I plan to do that for a week and then afterwards, introduce the Shakeology workouts again.
I have been drinking my shakes tho', and keeping with that and getting back to my water.
I can tell I did not drink enough.

I do wish I had been able to swim more often while there in Ocean City, but aye well. It was a very weird trip as it didn't seem like it was planned well as it was out of our norm.

Well tonight is a rotisserie chicken with a wee bit of angel hair, maybe a bite worth, some steamed veggies and light alfredo and pesto. I'll probably have some applesauce too. :)
I adore that rotisserie chicken! It just fills the whole house with a most delectable aroma! I have wondered just why I had not gotten one before?! It's awesome!

Well I just wanted to jot that down and I did forget to do measurements so I will try to do so tonight! :)

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Returning from the Crash...

...of the weight wave of my trip! Back to 196! YIKES! But I know some of that is water retention as I could feel my ankles swelling while on vacation. I wasn't drinking enough water and then bad food choices. I knew it was coming however.

So back up this morning to walk, thinking over my poor choices and some things I did not do too bad. This past trip, I was trying to take it easy on my ankle.

I know the weight will go right back down again with drinking water and back to my regular routine. We all kinda went hogwild and my son went back up to 174 himself. But it was something he could see and learn from. He did notice the change in all our systems with the change of diet. How much it effected us and he began to take notice and tried to make a concerted effort to not drink as much soda. I know many people say aahhh well you were on vacation! Hey...but still. There were some choices that could have been made that would have been better.
I did keep up my Shakeology but we lost track of time and one night we ate dinner at 10:30 pm! YIKES! That was really bad.

We all felt tired and worn out easier and had to nap even. Some of that was all the travelling and crossing a time zone and up early and not much rest, but I can't help but wonder if it was also due to the food choices?

I'll do some measurements tonight and see where the gain went to, plus as much as I did not want to know nor to look, it will be good to see and to have a starting point for the next contest. It will go as of today all the way til probably the Winter's Solstice.

But holy....moley! Eating right is just putting me to rights once more!! I can see what happens when you eat bad and then good, it's like your system is trying to correct the mistakes you made!! YIKES!

Big Steppin' --Aaron Goodwin Style!

What is Big Steppin'? Check out Aaron Goodwin of Ghost Adventures' site there to the side of this blog and you'll quickly find out!
I got to meet Aaron and go ghost hunting with him at one of the paranormal events that Darkness Radio puts together. I've gotten to go ghost hunting twice with him and many others and it's just alot of fun! Aaron does this Big Step at many places he visits and it's been this huge thing that is just catchin on and many people are doing it.
One of the things he has said about it, is that "...taking little steps gets you nowhere, but big steps will get you there faster..." and he's very right about that!
More on ghost hunting and all that can be found over on my Ghostly Travels/Journal blog. I put the link over to the side also, check it out sometime!

Now what does all that have to do with weight loss?

Well lots! :)

It takes a lot for someone to truly committ to getting more fit and healthy. It's a "Big Step"! I've bugged and pushed my son towards dedicating himself to it and it's been really, really hard! It's not easy to change your habits, both eating and exercising. It took a while to catch on for him but thinking up the contests have really helped alot! :)

So when I saw Aaron putting it out there about the "Big Steppin'", I thought how neat! So I picked up a very large Big Steppin' T-shirt to add to the others that I wear to work out in. :) I want to pick up one for my son and we'll be out, "Big Steppin", taking those big steps towards a more fit and healthier us! :) It just made us smile and laugh.

Thank you Aaaron for not only Big Steppin' but also for your own weight loss motivation and common sense!
Check out his blog about the weight he's lost:

Thank you Aaron! :)

Sleepy overcast morning...

I woke this morning and nearly thought it was an hour earlier? Or my clocks were wrong for it was all cloudy and dark with no sign of the sun coming up like I normally see each morning! I had to laugh for it made me realize how many mornings we've had that have been so sunny and then subsequently so many days in over 100 degree temps! YIKES!

It wasn't as humid out today and this time, when my son and I saw the sprinklers, I opted to go right thru them and remain on the sidewalk! It was COLD! hahaahahaa...and yet it felt refreshing. Sure did wake us up this morning!

I do enjoy walking out to the pond and watching the houses that are being built in my neighborhood.

My ankle is still sore and I can tell my plantars fasicitis is back again. :( I only worked out once yesterday aside from the walk and I did keep to the change in food choices well. I hate to say 'diet' because it feels like it is only for a short time and that's just not the case. I am wanting to make this a permanent thing, a decision to just eat healthier foods. Plus, I love how the Shakeology really has my system balanced!

Well it's back to stretching for my feet to help them to get better. I am about to go shower and get cleaned up as I have to run off on an appt and won't be able to work out. I did peek at the scale yesterday, a newer one although I don't think it is working too well and I thought I saw 188.8???
But who knows how correct it is...I'll be weighing on the old reliable one come Friday morning :) Measurements will get taken as well! I am pretty sure my son has beat me tho' and I am most proud of all his hard work! Sometime, I'd love to talk to Tony Horton about him!
I have told him, once he gets a 6 pack, he could have any game system he wanted. :)

I think I will be contacting Beachbody however with those before and after pics too!! It will be amazing for sure!

Baaaaddd Weekend

Well I thought I might be able to go walking and I managed to do so on Saturday morning. But I was bad and wore flipflops throughout the day while running errands. I thought it would be the better choice of shoes what with having twisted my ankle. But no, it was not. It ended up hurting my plantars fascitis since I had no arch support. :(

Ouch!

So needless to say, my feet are very sore since then. I did pick up some really nice massage lotion for them, Reflexology Foot Massage by earththerapeautics.com. Oh wow! Does this smell really nice! It has Tea Tree Oil in it which helps to heal and purifies and Wild Mint to cool and stimulate and then Lavender...aahhh good ol Lavender to soothe and relax! I got it rubbed on my feet Sat night and it felt sooooo nice! I have always loved a good foot massage! I used to have super ticklish feet until I learned over time to block that out and trust and believe that the person putting lotion on my feet was NOT going to tickle me. LOL It does work and I always feel so much more relaxed after getting my feet massaged. I could do that or have that done all day long!! I could be so angry or upset and massage my feet and I slip into pure heaven! Near altered state of just instant relaxation and calm. It's the same with having my hair brushed. I adore it!

So needless to say, I won't be wearing flipflops now while walking around for any length of time. Maybe at the beach...tops, that's it. Just to get down to the beach from the hotel and then back up. But on the boardwalk, it will be my Sketchers for sure and out running errands, I will be using my Sketchers too for a while. I just didn't want to wear the sandals that have a bit of a wedge heel as I didn't want to turn or hurt my ankle worse.

That was part 1 of the bad weekend. Part 2? I sabotaged again. :( I had triple chocolate muffin and a few candy bars. Dang. I succumbed to the temptation. I know why, yup, blame it on the cycle for it feels like it is near. I adore chocolate and get a craving for it just before so I usually know and sure enough I felt some cramps too yesterday morning. Not yet tho', but close. What is a pain is that being in peri-menopause (the start of it) my cycles have really gotten to be topsy turvy! I'll have to make a separate post on that cause it really wreaks havoc on  your body!

Ok, so I was bad. Not the end of the world for I kept up with the rest of the better food choices. Oh and I can't forget the Belgian Waffle. LOL YIKES! But...it was a 'light' one and homemade and that means made with 2% milk and a small bit of syrup (not much under it) and Cool Whip and for me, peach preserves but a smattering, not tons. AND! I only had half of a one, not a full one. I had bought a new Belgian Waffle maker, it's a flip style and it's really cool! The ones I make are light and fluffy and not heavy but half of one was better than a whole as they are deep. I made that as a side treat for Sunday. Not an every day thing, but just cause. :)

That was the other parts of the bad weekend. I still kept to the rest of diet however. I didn't get to walk yesterday as I was hurting and I slept in some and woke at 6:44 am, too late to walk as the sun is up already and I like to get it in before that or just at sunrise so I am not cooked. You wouldn't believe how hot the sun was yesterday as I stood to get gas! Holy smokes! I was waiting for my clothes to ignite! I was only standing there for about 5 minutes and I felt like I was burning with the heat right thru my cotton blouse! It's not that thin either!! Just was terrible!
I haven't worked out much since twisting my ankle but I just got back from my walk this morning and I am about to go head up to try to do Power90 this morning and just be careful about my left side. I did not weigh myself either yet this morning. I won't probably til Friday morning as I'd rather be surprised and that way, I won't cheat either cause I will be fearful I really messed myself up and socked my behind back into the 190s. I hope not. So I won't look til Friday morning.

Ok, time to head on up there so that when I am finished, I can have my morning snack of yogurt. :)

When I lapse like that...I don't get overly upset about it. Each day, each morning is a new day, a new start, new beginning. Just identify what had me go wrong and steer from it next time.  I did stay away from the soda tho', so I was glad of that! :)

Oh and I did pick up a pedometer so I can figure out how far we are walking and it looks like a bit less than half of a mile. .399 ? So we just need to go a lil further to make it a half mile and then slowly increase it to a mile. Will have to look at it again and see if I can clock it better. I also did pick up some ankle weights and will see about strengthening my ankle muscles.

Off I go!!!

N UP I GO!

My ankle felt better this morning so I went off for a walk with my son. It went fairly well. Took a different route than normal. No water sprinklers so I kept off the wet grass!

I could tell my ankle is sore and I know I twisted it and I could tell what angle I did so. I am thinking of getting some ankle weights to help strengthen the muscles and I know that will be good for my knees too. Many years ago, I had popped my knee cap out, three times, same one on the right. Not alot you can do about that, aside from popping the cap back into place on my own which I did.

So all I can do from here for it is to strengthen the muscles around it. I am also careful about how I turn my knees and not to ever make them go in and demonstrate how I did it for then I know I would do it again. No joke! That's how I repeated it!

Sometimes, I can feel it when it's damp out or things like that, my knee might get a little achy. Not so much anymore but once in a blue moon I will feel it.

It was a beautiful morning, not as humid and I can sure tell the difference. We walked up to the pond and it was nice with the breeze blowing. I really miss my home of PA a lot and look forward to going back up there and getting out of this heat and humidity. I love Texas, always will but I know I belong in the northeast and out of the hot sun. I am to the mist and forest and mountain springs.

While walking this morning, I had to laugh for it felt like it took me 6 years to get out and walk around the area! Made me wonder what was I doing all that time to have missed seeing that and experiencing that. Granted, I have walked out there before and gone to the places I have been to now, but just not with any regularity.

I am still at 189 even and it feels great! I know that seems like a high number, I never looked my weight tho', I carry it well. At least looks wise I do, but body wise? Health wise? No. This isn't healthy for me and I know it. My son hit the 169.5 mark and he is just on air! I am so happy for him!
Seems like we are staying 20 lbs apart. I know he'll pass me up, being a young man but I will be so glad for him and knowing as he loses weight and continues to get into shape, he will be healthier for his heart.

I am going to still take it easy somewhat today. I may work out here later this afternoon as my legs and ankle are sore from the walking. I don't want to overdo it as I know I will be doing alot of walking while on vacation both on the beach and the boardwalk. I can't wait! 1 week to go!!

Happy Birthday Dad! I miss you so very much. I hear you with me alot and can hear things you've said to me throughout my life. Being overweight was one of those things that we both battled and it is one that your heart could not take anymore. I know you would be proud of me and that I have gotten Wade out there and motivated and to see how much he's changed and getting healthier all the time! We're going all the way with it! :) I love you!

Tomorrow, I'll share about "Big Steppin'" :)

Despite the fall...

I weighed in today...I know, I know...shouldn't peek at the scale but it's so exciting to watch the numbers go down! Flat out 189! WOO HOO!

I am so grateful and glad that I did not hurt my ankle worse. I can walk on it ok, it's just sore like an overused muscle. I'll take it easy today with it still and then tomorrow try to see what I can do and get back into it. Walking again but staying out of wet grass! LOL

And then will try some Power90 and Shakeology Workouts. I'll just be mindful of that ankle and take it easy on that side of things and workout thru the weekend and all the way to Friday the 29th! We leave in the early morning on Saturday for 5 days and like I said, I'll take my Shakeology shakes with me and my walking Sketchers so I can walk on the boardwalk and I'll also be walking the beach each morning and night as much as I can.

It's so exciting to see myself move out of the 190s tho'! I picture it as getting rid of the 90s, and on to the 80s where the music was tons better! ;)

My son is sitting at the 170 even mark himself and is about to move to the 160s! He's excited about it too as he has not seen that in years! I can tell his stomach has decreased in size a great deal and can't wait to take pics of him on the beach again and compare! We'll be taking measurements and then setting up the next contest that will take us thru the rest of the summer and on into autumn. Probably set it for either December 1st or January.

Just finished my Shakeology shake! I still prefer it with the peppermint oil in it. He prefers the plain chocolate. I'd love to try to the other ones but don't want to order a whole month of the green stuff and not like it and then be stuck with it.

So looking forward to this trip! :)

And down I go...

Oh yea...down I went this morning! I went out early to take my morning walk with my son and we were avoiding the water sprinklers that were showering on the sidewalks. We had decided to go a different way this time and as I noticed the sprinklers still raining down upon the walk, we went out into the street. Once we got beyond the water, I decided to cross the grassy area to the dryer walkway.

It looked like it was straight, maybe a slight incline but not much. I took a step and the grass was still wet and little did I know was that the water was a big puddle and was hiding just under the blades of grass!!

My left ankle twisted and down I went! Right into the mud as my right knee came down and I was deep in the water and mud and grass. The whole right side of me was wet and I knew instantly that I had twisted my ankle. I got up slowly and was able to walk back to the house, cutting my walk short.
I put ice on it and took some Advil and propped my foot up. It swelled just slightly, not much but while I was leaning on it slightly, I felt a sharp sting or tear. I believe I tore or pulled something.

So in light of that, I'll be taking it easy with the exercising and I am sure I will be better in a couple days. In the meantime, I'll keep with my diet as best as I can with the Shakeology shakes. :)

Rest and lots of water and get some good sleep and eat right of course is in order.

I'll try to get back to the swing of things come Friday. I am still holding to 189.5 however and excited for what the week to come will take away from me, weight wise!! :)

Saying bye to the 190s!

Woo hoo! I saw 189.5 yesterday morning! I was ecstatic! I felt like I was stuck in the 190s forever!

Over the weekend, I worked out. I had missed two days in a row, only taking a walk in the morning of the one day. I have come to really enjoy the early morning walks as it helps me to wake up and I breathe in some fresh air and watch the sunrise. It was Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville T-shirt this morning greeting the sun! Got hit with some water sprinklers but hey, that always feels so refreshing in this heavy humidity here in Texas!

I do feel alot better however in working out more regularly again. It's also nice how every jogger who goes by, always says hello. Makes me wonder that we don't do that normally? Isn't that a bit odd? How many people we pass by or don't pay any attention to while in the stores and yet, out there, if jogging or walking or out with their dog, we make a point of greeting the other. :) I thought that was really nice.

I do love my new sneakers however! They are really great! I am glad that I am getting a chance to break them in and get used to wearing them before my vacation. I plan on wearing them often while out playing miniature golf and walking down the boardwalk.

Well now that I am at this place, again...again...I have to keep focused on not backsliding and not going back to my old bad ways and routines. I know I can do it. I figure to see at least 185 before the 29th. Would love to see 182 but that might be too unrealistic. So we'll see how it goes. I know my son is going to win this contest however! I am so proud of him for how much he has stuck to this and lost weight. It will be so much better for his heart condition and he has gotten alot stronger now and his biceps have really taking on some definition! I'd love to see him get a 6 pack abs and go all the way with this. I think if I can keep him into it and motivated, he will and can do it! He saw 171 (he was 173) and he was so excited! We've all noticed his belly going down however so that is just great!

We've been drinking the Shakeology shakes each day and he seems to like them too. I know they have so many great ingredients in them and it will help him alot. I've already been doing portion control and balance with him. So that will take a bit to take hold I think. I learned alot from Shakeology and really paid attention this time with it than I ever have before. It so gets my system on a regular set schedule and balanced. Before, it was always potluck as to what I ate and how my body would react. Even now, if I eat something I probably shouldn't have, I will get the night sweats or hot flashes in the early mornings, waking me up.

I believe I have a post about menopause somewhere that I saved from an old blog and I want to touch on it here too as it has a lot to do with weight loss. Very informative and I'll add some links on the right as well that I found a few years ago that helped enlighten me as to what I was facing while in the pre-menopausal phase.

I did finish Power90 Sweat this morning. I felt stronger this morning and for being on a Monday, that was pretty good! I got up early and did the walk and then came back, had breakfast which was a FiberOne Honey Cluster cereal and some water, taking my Calcium and D3 supplements. Power90 a lil later and just had my fat free yogurt and more water, a few nuts cause I felt the need to crunch. Did have one lil coconut cookie. I'll have my shake here in another hour and will wait 30 minutes and then go work out again with the Shakeology 50.

Tomorrow is going to be a bit off with the schedule as two cats have to go up to the vet in the early morning so I may not get to do the walk unless I get up alot earlier which I just might do! Trying to keep on schedule as I only have this week and next before it is vacation time! :)

No Candy Bar at checkout!

Normally when I go to the Commissary, I usually get a candy bar or soda to have to snack on the way home. Commissary trips are once or so a month. This morning, I didn't. I thought about it but was like nope! I didn't want one. I wanted to have my yogurt and knew water was waiting for me too at home.
If anything, I should have gotten a bottle of water but eh, that's ok. :)
I was right proud of myself for not reaching for something chocolatey.

This morning was the yearly physical and I did well. Weight was down to 191 or so and before breakfast and stepping on my home scale it was 190.5. So I was happy to see that. I hope to slip down into the 180s then next week! But I know I can't backslide and I have to remain strict. The doc said I need to have more Vitamin D3 and other than that, so far, the cholesterol looks ok, but I will get that panel results in next week and the doc will mail them to me unless there is something she needs to talk of. EKG went well, still showed my RBBB (Right Bundle Branch Block with my heart), no change. I don't have any symptoms but still have not seen a cardiologist in a long time so I was due for that and need to touch base with a local cardiologist. Plus of course needed a referral for the yearly mammogram.

I did need another CBC so I gave more blood just after the appointment for that. I had her use the left arm this time as the other lady last week used my right and she sliced and diced me and I was not happy. She had gone too far in, going thru the vein and then was lifting the needle up and down and drawing it in and out and I knew she was shredding my vein and I would be bruising. My whole lower arm was very sore afterwards and I still have a yellow bruising in the whole area. Lovely. They drew quite a lot of blood tho' as the test now for cholesterol is much more intensive and they can look to see if I will have a propensity for it genetically, etc etc..yadda yadda...

While at the commissary, I picked up more vegetables and apples and my favorite can of nuts. They are the South Beach Diet mix by Planters, called NUT-rition. They have cashews, almonds & macadamias. I have about a 1/4 cup of these with 1/2 of a Granny Smith apple, sliced for my snack. Normally at Kroger's they want over $6 for it and yet at the Commissary, they are just over $4. Amazing the difference in price for the exact same thing!

Yesterday I had taken my walk as I knew I wouldn't be able to this morning as I was out the door so early but I am about to go change so I can work out at least once this afternoon.

Will have my shake (Shakeology) and then wait about 30 mins before I go on up to do the 50.
I munched on a few nuts when I got home with the yogurt as I was late to have my yogurt.
I try to eat every 2-3 hours so it keeps my metabolism up. Normally it's every 2 hours.

Feel a bit sleepy today as it's been a long week and I was up early not wanting to be late for my appointment.

I do know I shouldn't worry of the number on the scale, it's more so how I feel and how my clothes fit but I like to see the numbers decrease. I take measurements so that is what I am really going by the most as far as feeling successful. Taking measurements can be daunting at first but once you do, it is great to watch the numbers go down! I put my measurements on an excel sheet and charted them. I measure everything too. Neck on down to calves. I like to see exactly where the fat is leaving and where it is that I am gaining muscle. I find that so interesting to see which part of me that my body takes the fat from for fuel and burn up and what part that obviously the exercising is building the muscles more so, at least that which I can see or measure well.

So I took my measurements at the start of this week and now, I have about 2 more weeks to go til the end of the contest! :) I already think my son will win but I will feel ecstatic if I can just get back to where I was in March! I think I will get close to it if I can just remain strict enough and not slack.
Then while on vacation, I intend on taking my Shakeology with me and at least drink the shakes. I am still thinking about taking workout clothes along with to work out while there, just not too sure yet if I really will or not. The beach will be there as the hotel is right on it and so I can take my walk in the morning and if the waves are decent and water is nice, clean and not too cold, I can go swimming. There will be A LOT of walking involved so I will be sure and take my new Sketchers! I love them!

Time to get changed! :)

Finally Succumbed

Well, I finally succumbed. Listened to the advice of my friend Tina (thanks Tina!) and created this blog for the wild and crazy ride of my weight loss. I hated to divide myself again for that's how it feels a bit but then again, I really did need a place to just sit down and write things out, especially about this particular topic.
I've been on weight support blogs and sites before, even Beachbody has their own which, has helped me a great deal. It kept me accountable and responsible and answerable too for that matter towards whoever was reading or those I made my 'buddies' that worked out with me on WOWY.

This latest time however, I got bombarded by coaches. Which, I don't normally mind, but why some think it is ok to come at you and pick at you or be hard on you about losing weight and think that that is a good thing, is just beyond me. I don't need anyone to make me feel badly for how I let things go. I did that and still do that to myself, all by myself, I don't need help in that.
That's never been the way to motivate me or to help me. What does work is positive support, not negative. Setting realistic goals for myself and finding something good and motivating for myself to push myself to get past the sleepies or tiredness or emotional upheavals so that I can focus on myself and my health more so and not let emotions or stress or anything like that, divert me from keeping active and getting fit.

I've had that experience before with a past relationship who also, tried to be hard on me or push me in a negative way. It went over like a fart in church. I had to take a deep breath and set him down and explain to him kindly, that tho' I did fully appreciate his desire to help me and support me, the way he was going about it however, was not really the best way to do so. I followed that up with an explanation and then the solution and guidance and asked him if he could support me in this other way and I explained what it was that I truly needed. I'd rather no support than misguided support or that type that would only do more harm than good.

I am one of those type of people however that can easily find the motivation to jumpstart things and to get things moving and grooving. My problem is the follow thru or sticking to it once one of the goals are met. As any can see reading the below posts of My Story, the yo-yo-ing is pretty bad. There's a most definitive pattern there so now, the trick is, to break it. To make this not just about a short term goal, but to hold on, to make this change for the long term. A lifestyle change.

Oh and I sure do know that that is what is needed, knowing all of that good stuff.

It's the doing that is the killer.

Beachbody -- Their Story

So who or what is Beachbody?  Beachbody is a wonderful site that offers many different workout programs, supplements and accessories to help you lose weight and get fit!

The site is free to join and if you pay a bit for a few of the features, you can easily utilize all their tools they have on their site to help you with your weight loss goals. You don't have to pay but I really found so much support and aid there when I did and I enjoyed the extra features.
Also, I found their forums so very motivating and found a friend and workout buddy while in there, Rocky. She became a great friend to write to and we motivated each other along the way while working out with Power90 and Slim in 6.

How did I workout with her when she lived in another state? Well, there is part of Beachbody called: WOWY! You can set down a scheduled workout and log into WOWY and it will countdown your time and show others who log in that you are working out and what type of workout you are doing. None can actually SEE into your home, but they can see your name on the list working out. It is a great tool to help keep you accountable.

Have questions? Seek out the forums for just about any topic and chances are, someone has already asked it before you and you will probably see the answer already up without having to ask it yourself.

They have workout programs for all ages and intensities! I have several programs not even offered anymore and some that are still very popular. I am sure you may have already seen the commercials for P90X? I haven't ordered that yet but I will once I finish Power90.

I have from Beachbody: Slim in 6, Slim Series, Yoga Booty Ballet, Power90, Kathy Smith's Project YOU, Ho' Ala ke Kino, Great Body Guaranteed, and Tony Horton and the Kids.

Now, Beachbody isn't just about exercising, it's also about helping you to learn to eat better. Shakeology is probably the most healthiest meal of the day you can have! Read up on it, I have it linked off to the side as well, it's just really great! I will say that it will really get my body into the mode of losing weight and put my system on a regular schedule. It balances me out completely. I can always tell such a huge difference when I've had a shake and if I have gone a day or a week without. I will feel more sluggish and tired. Drinking Shakeology really helps me to focus more at work and I have more energy and don't feel so heavy or weighed down.

Beachbody also offers supplments that will help you to recover and get your body honed to lose weight and aid you while working out and afterwards. I have used the supplements and they really do help to ease the soreness in your muscles you feel if you have not worked out in a long time.

Need weights or exercise bands? Beachbody has that also! Heart monitors and all sorts of things, just about everything you could possible want or need to get you on the path towards a better and more healthy and energetic YOU! :) All you have to do is press play on your remote and away you go! Dedicate yourself and motivate yourself to do it!

Now if you are very overweight and can't keep up with them, you know what? That's ok! You just start out slow, take walks, go swimming and take breaks as you need to. Increase as you go.
The workouts that are the easiest ones that I have done thus far is the Shakeology workouts. The pace is slower and you are not jouncin and bouncin all over the place and getting lost in the transitions from one exercise to another. Tania will show you the next exercise before you do it so it gives you a breather for a moment, plus you can do the modified version if it is too tough for you by following Lisette, the blonde lady who is behind Tania. This workout is a combined cardio and weight lifting routine. It includes stretching within the 30 mins to start. And! the workouts are free and come with your first shipment of Shakeology shake mix! :)

Most people feel discouraged when they start a fitness routine because they can't possibly keep up with the people on the video. But you know what? You shouldn't be able to! Modify it to what you can do, even if you have to run in place but keep moving. Try out that harder move maybe the next day. Maybe you can do one. Next time, try two or three and slowly build yourself up. You will get stronger the more you do. And before you know it, you will be able to keep up and you will have mastered that routine! You will feel more energetic and strong and will just amaze yourself! I love the feeling and I know it can be hard to set aside that kind of time, but you can. You can do it if you really want to. It can happen for you too!

One of my favorite things is to finish a workout, all sweaty and you go into the shower and you can just feel it all sliding off your body. I could feel the dirt and grimey sweat just washed away down the drain and I used to picture it as fat just being washed off my body! It is a great feeling!

Don't forget to drink lots of water and get plenty of rest too so your body can recover from working it so hard. Put yourself into a good routine and daily schedule and get to bed early so you can wake early and feel more refreshed!

The most important thing however to learn and to accept is that you really do need to do both, better food choices for the rest of your life AND a more active lifestyle. Exercise.

It is so very key to helping you to live a longer and healthier life. You can even lower your cholesterol, better your heart health and if you are borderline diabetes, losing weight and getting fit can benefit you in that category too! Have hot flashes and night sweats as you approach menopause? Guess what is the #1 thing you can do to help decrease the frequency of those? Yup, diet and exercise. It's just key to better living.

I know I sound like a commercial maybe, but alot of this is all just life experiences and things I have learned. It's hard to apply it, oh trust me, I know as you can see in my prior blog post. It is not an easy task at all, injuries, sickness, stress of life and work and home. Hard to change, old habits die hard they say. Forget about all the times you've tried and gave up however, today is a new day! Forgive yourself and get out there! :) The world awaits and it's wanting a healthier you! It is waiting for a healthier me too! :)

Beachbody --My Story

A lot of people have asked me what is "Beachbody"?
Thoughts of the old comic strip for Charles Atlas and his Dynamic Tension course comes to mind:

Remember that on the back of comic books? This ad stuck with me for years! I always admired men with nicely developed biceps and especially when the gymnasts performed on the rings. That was always my favorite!
I was a skinny lil girl growing up with spindley legs that would walk 7 blocks to my elementary school,  and sometimes when the wind blew and gusted hard if I timed a jump, it would carry me off for a couple feet! Those wonderful memories still linger in my mind today.
It took me all the way to high school before I really began to fill out. I still was very skinny at 113 lbs and just barely 5'2. Knowing I was to go into the Air Force that fall after I graduated, I began to work out and train on my bike, riding it through the countryside to keep the weight down and to get more physically fit. I was always active as a kid and jumping rock to rock across the creek and playing in the water, shooting the rapids in my inner tube, hiking in the woods, hauling wood for the woodstove. I wanted to be prepared for the AF and I went in feeling pretty fit. With their training and restrictions, I was able to hold to 125 for the longest time.

Once I got married and pregnant a few years thereafter, I was at 140, gained 40 lbs for the pregnancy and then lost it again in 10 months with just walking and pushing my son in his stroller each evening. I was back down to 140. I still felt fat at the time and wanted to return to my 125 but it would not happen. I was 23. I started aerobics at home, joining in with It Figures with Charlene Prickett. Each morning I'd work out with Charlene and I was just trying to hold on to that weight but my eating habits were bad. B. A. D., bad! I was eating alot of hamburger by then, big enchilada dinners that had me consuming 1/2 lb of hamburger in one meal! YIKES! I knew it was bad and I tried Richard Simmons' Deal a Meal to try to get healthier on my food choices but I just could not stick to it and find healthy foods that I actually liked to replace all the bad choices.
After my son was three, I really tried hard to lose weight and get more fit. I was pressing at 150 and I joined a gym and began to combine aerobics with weight lifting and worked out 3x a week. I also counted calories. Everything I ate, I would write it down and add up my calorie intake and used it as a guide as to what I could or could not eat and I got down to 135! I was feeling very good by then! But, after the success, what did I do? I went back to the same old bad routine.

3 years later, I got pregnant with my daughter and I weighed in at 152, gained 46 lbs or so with her and holy cow I weighed more at the time than I ever had before at 193! YIKES! Did I manage to lose it all in 10 months again? No. I was nowhere near in shape as I was when I got pregnant with my son.
So I stayed in the 160s. Diet was still half bad, half good. By then I had began to start working out with Richard Simmons, his Sweatin to the Oldies. I had already cut down on portions for each meal but the choices were just half good and half bad.

Moving to Okinawa, my weight got out of control. I believe I had slipped into the 170s to 180s somewhere as I couldn't fit into any of my clothes. I remember feeling embarassed that I could only wear sweats and stretchy clothes and wanted to hide in our apartment. That's when I got stricter and went back to Sweatin to the Oldies. I began to walk and I managed to get the weight down to 151! I was so excited! Of course the heat got to be terrible with the humidity there and I soon stopped working out again.

Weight creeped back again to the 160s...170s as I returned then to the states and moved to Vermont. I joined a gym and managed to get things down to the lower end of the 160s. My eating was starting to shape up but it was a long haul and I was fighting against myself. My trainer that I had at the gym had left and I became less and less motivated to go.

Moved out to Vegas and found myself at 180. That's when I had discovered Beachbody, almost 9 years ago. I had began to walk my daughter to school and started Power90. I didn't get too far before my feet began to hurt and I injured myself and I lost motivation to get back at it. My weight began to creep up again as I was still eating poorly. Sometimes I would eat well and other times bad. I kept yo-yo'ing. Bad. I was up to 191 when I just freaked out and couldn't believe I had allowed myself to get that heavy! I had to take a stand!

So I went back to Beachbody, they had something new out, Slim in 6! A 6 week program of progressive workouts, 3 of them and a healthy way to eat as well, much like Power90. Power90 seemed daunting for it was 90 days, 3 months! Slim in 6 was only 6 weeks. I could do that for 6 weeks I convinced myself, and so ordered it. I tried to fast with their 2 Day Fast Formula but it was just too hard on my system. I had to alter my food choices and be extra careful for by then, I had my gall bladder removed so the Atkins diet was not going to work for me and I had already cut out most of my beef intake. I moved solely to poultry and fish and once in a very blue moon, beef and small amounts if any. I then thought I would try the Southbeach Diet and although the food was really good, it was very expensive to purchase all the fresh foods needed and time consuming to prepare.

But I began to eat a better, more balanced diet and I dedicated myself to the Slim in 6 with Debbie Siebers. I loved it! It was hard, challenging, and yet it slowly worked you up to the fitness level to handle the exercises! I went down to 179! I was just ecstatic and of course, true to form, what did I do?

I stopped.

Worked out less. I had ordered the Slim Series but found it a bit difficult to keep doing, so eventually, motivation to keep it up was gone.  Bad eating habits returned = weight returned. I was back in the 190s. I tried to go back to the Power90 for something different and my feet began to hurt. My hips would hurt and I couldn't walk far without feeling pain in my lower back as well. My little body could not handle this weight and I was on a downward spiral. I had been walking my daughter to school and I ended up developing Plantar's Fascitis. OUCH! For those who suffer from it, oh man o man I so know what you are going thru! I could not walk far at all and if I sat for any length of time, it would hurt the moment I got up. It got to be so bad that I could barely stand and would hobble out of bed in the morning, stumbling nearly to the bathroom. It would take a while to get my feet used to walking and moving. I ended up having to go see the doctor about it and he gave me inserts for my shoes for the arches that were falling and some exercises to do, stretching and the like, for my feet. He told me that as it took a while for me to develop this, it would take me twice as long to get rid of it and feel relief. Ouch! Not good!

We moved out to Texas and things did not improve at first, only got worse and in a downward spiral, I broke the 200 mark. The all time high was 205 and I was tired and sore. As my feet would get alternately worse and then better, I kept with the stretching and moving my feet before I got out of bed. Each morning I would work them until finally, I began to see relief from the Plantars.
I had some new inserts in my sneakers and it really helped alot. But there was still my weight to deal with.

So, I went back to Slim in 6 for I knew I had great success there. I must have stopped and started it so many times it is not funny. I couldn't seem to stick with it long enough to move out of the Start it Up. Something would happen, either I got sick, my cycle was too bad, I was told to rest in bed by the doctor as much as I could when that happened. Motivation waned and I ended up looking to lose weight without working out. I knew I couldn't do the Atkins diet with all that protein and red meats for I had already cut out the red meats for the most part.

I kept seeing all those commercials for Nutrisystem and finally, along with a friend, I joined and began to eat the food they delivered and I went out and bought the extras needed and worked out a lil here or there. Wow! I lost weight alright! I went from 205 to 185. It came right off me but it came off in all the wrong places! My breasts got deflated! I was shocked and so upset and told myself I would rather be fat than to have that happen!! So I stopped Nutrisystem and went back to my old eating habits, not too bad however for I had already started to eat better. I was able to reinflate my breasts naturally with good ol fat! Happy again to have the 'girls' returned to normal, I wasn't sure what to do, stuck in the 190s.

Something I had always known was that for me,  I could not just do one or the other. I could not just eat food prescribed on a diet or any of the already prepared meals or things like that, for I could see first hand now that that was not the way to go. I would lose weight in places where I did not wish to and there was no building of muscle.
I also knew, I could not work out solely either and continue to eat bad for I would be battling myself then.

I had to do a combination of both. That is what Beachbody kept trying to tell me. I needed to replace the fat with muscle. I just had a hard time doing so and sticking to it.

My weight had gone back to the 190s and was getting ever closer to 200. I had to do something.
So finally, last winter as I was pushing 200, I went back to Slim in 6, more determined than ever that I would do it and I would utilize my old jump start routine I had done in Vegas, I would work out 2x a day, called Doubles! I would also eat right and with that, I found Shakeology. Beachbody had come out with it and I was intrigued!  They had two flavors to choose from, this weird green berry drink or a chocolate. Normally, I do not like the chocolate flavored type drinks. I had once tried Slim Fast and it was just yuck!
But, I gave the chocolate a whirl with Shakeology and wow it was good! I started to mix it with Soy Milk, the Silk brand, went from Vanilla to Very Vanilla and it made the Shakeology taste pretty good!
I drank Shakeology off and on and then finally, got serious last fall.
I changed from Soy milk to Almond milk, Vanilla flavored and began to add peppermint oil or spearmint oil or even cinnamon oil to the drink and wow! It was like drinking a candy bar! YUM!

This time, I read over the information again and began to truly try to eat right. I learned portion control more and began to balance out my diet.
I also started the Shakeology workouts again, starting with the 30 for a couple weeks and then moving on to the 50.

My routine was working out in the morning first thing when I woke up, Slim in 6. Then I would start on the eating every 2 hours and the types of things that the Shakeology menu suggested. I began to replace things that I liked and alter things slightly and then, I would work out the 2nd time either just before my shake or some time in the afternoons with the Shakeology workouts. I drank alot of water. I love water and have it delivered in large 5 gallon jugs from Sparkletts water where I place it on a water dispenser I picked up at Frys Electronics so I can have instant hot water for tea and ice cold water. This water is really great and I even had it tested when we moved out here and it was much better than my tap water and even stood up to the water that has gone thru the water softening filters. Impressive!

I started to work on my fitness hard and was not entirely strict with the eating but fairly focused. I ended up losing 27 inches all over during the winter time and that was thru the holidays too!! I was so proud of myself! I had set small goals for myself and created contests with my family to see who would lose the most weight and inches in 3 months at a time. I won the first round and I won the second one that just ended in March.

And then....

I went on two trips back to back nearly in March and granted, I took my Shakeology with me, but did not work out. Eventually, drinking my shakes became sporadic. I returned from the trips having gained around 10 lbs back!! I hit the 195 nearly 196 and I was like oh nooooooo no no no no!!! It took a while for this to happen as I had been trying to stick to the food choices but eventually, I succumbed. Again.

And again.

Ugh! So now, I am back to it. I was ill for a lil while and cycle was bad but now that it is over with, today starts a new day! I did buy new sneakers, ones for aerobics for my workouts and another set for walking, the Sketchers that rock that everyone is talking about. So I will start to take walks in the evenings as a 3rd small bit of exercise before retiring for the evening.

Food choices will be back on track too, already started that and worked out this morning with Power90. I am going to continue with that for a week or so and see how my feet are doing. I fear that my Plantar's is returning however right now but I am hoping with the new sneakers, that it will turn back around again!

I have no idea as far as inches go where I am at but I will take measurements again tonight to find out where I am starting out.
The next contest ends just before my birthday at the end of July so I have 4 weeks to get things moving! After there, I will set it again for October. I will be away on vacation for a few days to Ocean City, MD but come August, I will be starting up again. Either continuing with Power90 or starting a new program.

I know that's a lot to take in, and there are a ton of links there to look thru! But I am going to say one final thing here. Any of those weight loss programs, workout programs, will work...BUT! Only if you combine the two both diet AND exercise. And you can't think of it as a diet, but as a lifestyle change. As I've shown, the moment I go back to my old eating habits, the weight returns. This is not about eating right for a few months and then you are good to go for the rest of your life, no. This is about changing your sedentary lifestyle and becoming more active. Eating a healthy balanced diet and starting to enjoy the fresh foods again and get away from the processed things. The cakes, pies, candy and all those scrumptious goodies we all know and love. And trust me, I LOVE them all! I have a terrible sweet tooth. But I do love Granny Smith apples, something tart and sweet and juicy, naturally so.  Those programs will work, but you have to dedicate yourself to them. You have to discipline yourself and motivate yourself. So this is my story thus far.
I don't look this weight either. I have a medium body frame and I carry it very well. But my body knows better. It is not healthy for me to be here. Back to 150 would be just fine for me. I don't want to be skinny. I want to keep my curves and just shed some of the fat and tone up. It is going to take time and I want to do so, slowly and with care.
So I am motivated now and already worked out today and began to eat right again.
